UTCA proposed to promote cricket in PU Campus, Tandon met VC
Chandigarh, UT Cricket Association (UTCA) President Sanjay Tandon met Panjab University Vice-Chancellor Professor Renu Vig on Wednesday and put forth a proposal for further promotion of cricket by UTCA in PU campus. Tandon proposed encouragement of the cricket facility by UTCA in the campus as well as maintenance of the cricket ground and pitch during a meeting which lasted for almost an hour. BCCI’s General Manager Abhay Kuruvilla during his one-day visit to Chandigarh recently explored the cricket infrastructure in the city and possibilities for hosting BCCI national level events in the near future with UTCA’s officials. He visited nearly ten cricket grounds which also include PU ground. Tandon assured PU that this understanding will help cricket to a higher and new level. PU Ground hosted several matches during the gully cricket tournament organized by UTCA and Chandigarh Police for almost three weeks in April this year.
Taking cognizance of the proposal, Professor Renu Vig also expressed her verbal consent but asked to keep this agreement in her internal meeting to seal this agreement. She assured that PU is committed to the upliftment of the sports and eagerly looking for this agreement.
The meeting was also attended by UTCA’s Treasurer Alok Krishan, PU Sports Department Director Dalwinder Singh and PU Facility Incharge RK Rai.
