Satish Bhardwaj clinched seven wicket haul, Mayank Sidhu smashed half ton at the opening day of Men’s Seniors Multi-Day Tournament

CHANDIGARH: Charismatic bowling spell by Satish Bhardwaj (7/29) helped Rock Zone  to bundle out Plaza Zone for 121 on the opening day of the Men’s Seniors Multi-Day Tournament under the aegis of UTCA domestic cricket season at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. . Rock Zone decided to bowl first which went in their favour.  Plaza Zone was reduced to mere  43.4 overs with Vaibhav Narang (25) as top scorer while Akash Sudan and Amrit Sandhu contributed 21-21 runs each. Varun Kumar (2/15) and Tanveer Singh (1/8)  also proved economical for their side.

In reply, the deadly bowling start from Parmesh Vaidik helped Plaza Zone also left their opponents in struggling mode. Recovering from 20/2, Rock Zone’s middle order batsmen repaired the early losses but was not good enough with just nine runs at the end. . Rock Zone also  collapsed for 130 runs in 41 overs. . Deepansh Bhuchar (26) was the highest scorer for the side while Karan Pratap contributed 24 runs. Amrit Sandhu (3/29) and Sukrant Sharma (3/33) shared the maximum three wickets wherein  skipper Kunal Mahajan (2/12) and Parmesh Vaidik (2/24) took two wickets each.

Meanwhile, in  another match played at GMSS School, Sector 26, Mayank Sidhu (57) scored an unbeaten half-century to  steer his team Leisure  Zone to 164/3 against Terrace Zone. Terrace Zone won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. He was well supported by  Chirag Yadav (28) and unbeaten batter captain Gaurav Puri (27). Bhagmender Lather, Mandeep Singh and Ravindra Pal took one wicket each from Terrace Zone.
