XXXV CONVOCATION AT PGGCG 42, CHANDIGARH
Postgraduate Government College for Girls, Sec 42, Chandigarh organised 35th Convocation in its auditorium ‘Sabras’ on 29th April, 2023. Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal welcomed Chief Guest Prof. ( Dr. )Yajvener Pal Verma, Registrar , Panjab University, Chandigarh. Principal Prof. Aggarwal read out the College report and made every one appraised of the progress college made over the years. She highlighted the efforts of the faculty, students and other staff members of the college in furthering and fulfilling the educational objectives of the college still higher . The college has been recently accredited by UGC-NAAC Team A Grade with CGPA-3.16 which is the highest among all the colleges of city beautiful accredited by NAAC so far this year. The college has been also bestowed with A+ by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education and Overall Second Runners Up Trophy in PU Youth and Heritage Festival ( Zone B ) 2022. While addressing the students and faculty members Prof. Verma appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students in taking the college to new heights and congratulated students on receiving degrees. He motivated the staff to fortify the virtues of honesty, dedication, discipline, and integrity in their endeavour of choosing such a pious profession. He said that teachers have a special obligation to encourage the pursuit of learning and all round development of pupils for improvement of the education system. He asked students to imbibe our rich traditional value system and new scientific outlook that would help contributing in nation building. Convocation is an occasion to look back with pride and to look forward with hope. As many as 706 Degrees were awarded on the occasion. A total 14 Students received Roll of Honour, 19 students bagged college colour. Besides, 2 Toppers one each from B.Com and M.Com were awarded Pranshu-Anmol Memorial cash Prize which is given each year in the memory of the sons of our dear colleague. On this occasion College Newsletter “ Scoop” was also released by the Chief Guest. This newsletter is being compiled and designed by the students of Functional English The Ambassadors Alumni Association also carried out its Annual Registration Drive during the occasion. Information regarding Student Progression was also collected in the event. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal addressed the alumni and motivated them to pursue higher studies. President of the Association CA Shilpa Singhal asked the alumni to stay connected and sent forth the message of a strong association with each other. Mr. Mohit Verma, member of the Association apprised the alumni about the website, Facebook page and the WhatsApp groups through which alumni could stay in touch with their alma mater. Due to the large volume of recipients, the college made all possible arrangements to enable students to know about the convocation decision through college web site and also received a message directly from college. Going forward, the college remains committed and continue to feed pupils mind with wisdom, knowledge, experience and relationships with others through its various channels.
