Special Lecture at SCS, PU
School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture on “News Gathering Tools and Practices”. Ms.Tripti Nath, an independent multimedia journalist with a field experience of over three decades was the resource person for the lecture. Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies, greeted the guest and shared how experienced media personnel can enhance student’s knowledge with practical insights from the field.
Ms Nath, a seasoned journalist has to her credit experience of having worked with national and international dailies like The Tribune, The Daily Observer, The Guardian London, to name a few. A Chevening Scholar, she also has multiple international assignments to her credit such as working with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation during Commonwealth games in Delhi.
The lecture was primarily focused for MA 2nd Semester students of SCS. Ms Tripti Nath talked about various news gathering tools like websites of distinguished Ministries, importance of hierarchy in print media, do’s, and don’ts of taking an interview and importance of cultural sensitivity in the media field. She also discussed the importance of ‘Think Tanks’ for better understanding of the niche. Further, she emphasised on broadening the horizon in the media field.
The lecture was followed up by questions raised by the students.
