India is committed to ending the AIDS epidemic as a public health threat by 2030 in line with sustainable development goals. The country has adopted the 90:90:90 global targets along with fast track target of 95:95:95 (95% of all people living with HIV to know their HIV status, 95% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection to receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, and 95% of all people receiving antiretroviral therapy to have viral suppression by 2025). NACO has initiated Sampooran Suraksha to expand HIV prevention services to all the clients at the risk of HIV or STIs.
The aim of the initiative is to reach out to those not self identified as High Risk Groups, but still “At Risk” and to provide them supportive services that help them to stay negative and stay healthy by setting up of 75 Sampooran Suraksha Kendras in the country.
Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society (SACS) has been selected for establishment of one such Sampooran Suraksha Kendra.
The Chandigarh Sampoorna Suraksha Kendra (SSK) was today inaugurated by Sh. Yashpal Garg, Secretary Health, Chandigarh and launch all the services of the Kendra set up Civil Hospital, Sector 22, Chandigarh.
The Secretary Health interacted with the staff working under SSK and Officers during the event and desired that there should be a mass level publicity among general public so that they can avail the services and gets benefitted. Secretary Health had also interacted with the patients present in the OPD.
Dr. Suman Singh, Director Health Services assures that by utilizing various channels like mass media, social media about this facility and best services will be provided through this centre to the public.
Dr. V.K. Nagpal, Project Director, CSACS explained the various services which will be provided to the public through this Sampoorna Suraksha Kendra like HIV Counseling and Preventive Services, HIV Diagnostic and Treatment Services, Opportunistic Infection Screening & Treatment, Other Services (Hep B & C Screening & linking for treatment).
Dr. Suman, Director Health Services and Dr. V.K. Nagpal, Project Director, Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society, UT, Chandigarh along with other Sr. Medical Officers were present during the event
