Delegation from Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia Visited  PU

 

A delegation from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia, visited Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, to discuss potential collaborations and partnerships in the fields of Engineering, Science, and Information Technology.

The delegation from QUT, Prof. Troy Wayne Farrell, the Executive Dean, Faculty of Science and Prof. Ian Mark O’Hara, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Engineering and other representatives were welcomed by Prof. Renu Vig, the Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University, along with Prof. Rumina Sethi, DUI, Prof. S K Kansal, DIS and other senior officials and faculty members. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for mutually beneficial collaborations between the two prestigious universities.

During the meeting, Prof. Troy Waynee expressed QUT’s keen interest in establishing collaborations with Panjab University in areas such as joint research projects, twin/dual degree programs, faculty exchange programs, and student exchange programs in the fields of Engineering, Science, and Information Technology. Prof. RenuVig expressed Panjab University’s willingness to explore potential areas of partnership and cooperation.

Discussions were held on various areas of mutual interest, including artificial intelligence, data science, cyber security, biotechnology, robotics, renewable energy, and environmental sciences. Both sides emphasized the importance of fostering strong academic and research collaborations to address global challenges and promote innovation.

The delegation also visited Department of Physics, Department of Chemistry and UIET and interacted with faculty members and researchers. They exchanged ideas and explored possibilities for joint research projects and collaborations. The visit was marked by fruitful discussions and a positive outlook towards future collaborations between QUT and Panjab University.

Prof. RenuVig expressed optimism about the prospects of mutual collaborations, stating, “This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening ties between our universities and fostering collaborative efforts in cutting-edge research and innovation. We look forward to exploring further opportunities for partnership in the fields of Engineering, Science, and Information Technology for the benefit of our students and faculty”.

Later, the delegation from QUT also visited various research facilities and laboratories at Panjab University, gaining insights into the university’s research capabilities and expertise. The visit concluded with a commitment to further explore the potential for collaborative initiatives and partnerships.

The visit of the QUT delegation to Panjab University was a significant step towards establishing meaningful collaborations and partnerships in Engineering, Science, and Information Technology, and it is expected to pave the way for increased academic and research cooperation between the two universities in the future,
