University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development, Panjab University, Chandigarh witnessed a celebratory success of its Annual Design Collection and Trunk Display Show,Shears and Ruban 2023, displaying the B.Sc. semester 6thAnnual Design Collection. The show co-ordinator Dr. Prabhdip Brar briefed the audience about the creative brilliance of the students and insightful hard-work of the mentors that spread out in the spaces of the Law auditorium Panjab University, as 34 Design Collections, half of which were displayed as Trunk Display and the rest 15 were executed through the panache of ramp-walk on stage. The team of UIFT&VD, welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Simrat Kahlon, Dean Student Welfare Panjab University and the Guest of Honour Prof. Sushil Kumar Kansal, Dean International Student, Panjab University.
This Annual Collection contained in its Pandora box various inspirations and expressions. In the list of different themes, they had Shruti’s collection “Fragments”of 3D impressions, Ridhi’s appeal for sustainable upcycling through her collection “Sac-k-elp”, Yuvraj’s collection “Drag Baisaa” welcomed unisexual styling through folk motifs, Bhawna and Aishni’s concepts of bohemian fusions were titled “Boho-Indo” and “Munavvar”. Some others experimented with designs of their signature doddles, Bhuvanshi tailored her emotional apprehensions onto the garments, and Shreya’s creativity played out the chaos of the modern minds.
The Trunk Display by the students also became a successful highlight for the inquisitive people to have a word with the young designers about their skill and art. The Chairperson of the department, Dr. Anu H. Gupta congratulated the faculty for instilling a creative spirit and insight into the students, and also the students for their persistence and sincere attitudes in making the Show a success. The Chief Guest Prof. Simrat Kahlon and the Guest of Honour Prof. Sushil Kumar Kansal, Dean International Student, Panjab University also felicitated the students and the award-winners and shared their critical insight on how fashion beautifully extends the academic dimensions to new horizons.
