Akhilesh become the first centurion of the tournament as actions at Gully Cricket kicks off

Chandigarh, The opening day of the 18-day Gully Cricket Tournament, being organized by the UT Cricket Association (UTCA) and Chandigarh Police, witnessed widespread enthusiasm among the budding cricketers on Friday. The 10-10 over tournament is being played at ten different grounds of the city – Punjab University, Architect College, Punjab Engineering College, DAV School Sector 8, Police Lines Sector 26, GMSSS Sector 19, 26 32, 35 40. Meanwhile, Akhilesh (115) from Team No 46 became the first batter to score a century in 32 balls studded with 13 sixes and 6 fours. Meanwhile, a match between Team No. 185 and 186 went to an exciting end in Super Over wherein Team No. 185 sealed the victory.

Ashok Malhotra, chairman of the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee, consented as the chief guest. He was visibly impressed with the cricketing during the matches organized at DAV School. During the match.

Expressing his satisfaction , UTCA President Sanjay Tandon said that the matches were closely monitored by the UTCA selectors. The best performing players will be mentored by UTCA and given a chance to represent the Chandigarh team in BCCI national level events.

Team No. 46 (231/2) beat Team No. 45 (45/8) by 186 runs

Team No. 120 (85/5) beat Team No. 119 (86/2) by eight wickets

Team No. 25 (85/4) beat Team No. 26 (54/6) by 31 runs

Team No. 164 (101/8) beat Team No. 163 (53/9) by 48 runs

Team No. 80 (30 all out) lost to Team No. 79 (32/1) by nine wickets
