Sh. Nitin Yadav, Secretary IT, UT Chandigarh and Smt. Bhawna Garg today reviewed Aadhaar Enrolment and Updation Drive in UT Chandigarh. in review of the Aadhaar situation, Shri Yadav urged the people to update documents in their Aadhaar in case they have not updated during last 8 to 10 years, i.e., prior to 2015. While discussing with the Secretary, Ms. Bhawna Garg informed that a new exercise has been initiated to strengthen citizens’ Aadhaar by updating latest Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents. Under the initiative, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced a new functionality of Document Update in Aadhaar through the Document Update feature.
The feature is accessible online through ‘my Aadhaar’ portal and various Aadhaar enrollment centers. The citizens must use these options to update their documents to avoid any inconvenience.
This service can be availed at Aadhaar Counters of all the Sampark Centers, Post Offices and various Banks in Chandigarh by paying Rs. 50 only. However, much to the relief of the residents, UIDAI has waived off charges for online Aadhaar Document Update for a period of 3 months i.e. till 14 June, 2023.
Sh. Nitin Yadav, Secretary IT asked the concerned officers to make the residents aware about this provision so that more and more people can avail this. He further emphasized on completing Aadhaar enrolment for children especially in age category 0-5 years and completing mandatory biometric update for children after they have attained the age of 5 and 15 years.
