Gyan Setu Think Tank in collaboration with Department of Defence and National Security Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a special Running Event – Suraksha Jagran Josh. In the event, Runs under three categories were organized – 2.5 kms, 5 kms and 10 kms. The event was held on 16 March 2023 at 6:30 am at the Parade Grounds, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

The Run – Suraksha Jagran Josh was organized as part of continued effort by Gyan Setu Think Tank and Department of Defence and Security Studies, Panjab University to develop the synergy between veterans in the region and students, research scholars and faculty of the department. The event aimed to generate awareness about the national security issues and challenges as well as encourage people to adapt healthy lifestyle for stronger and secure nation.

The event started with 2.5 kms run followed by 5 kms and 10 kms. Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor of the Panjab University distributed prizes to winners under different categories at the conclusion of the run.

The winners under different categories are:

2.5 kms male – 1st Amit Kumar, 2nd Abhijit, 3rd Gurdev

2.5 kms female – 1st Jaskirat Kaur 2nd Manpreet Kaur, 3rd Saniya

5 kms male – 1st Rahul Singh Rawat, 2nd Sunil, 3rd Biswajit

5 kms female – 1st Sakshi, 2nd Antima Gupta, 3rd Khushi

10 kms male – 1st Imran Ahmed, 2nd Praveen Kumar, 3rd Mehkar Ali

10 kms female – 1st Cheena Devi, 2nd Aarti, 3rd Sonam

Some of the distinguished participants of the event were – Cheena Devi, winner of the 10 km female category is 50 years old, Jaskirat Kaur winner of 2.5 km female category is just 10 years old.

People from all walks of life including students, research scholars, faculty, serving and retired defence officers, government employees, businessmen as well as some senior citizens participated in the run. The run was flagged off by Prof. Simrit Kahlon, coordinator ISSCR. Lt. Gen. K. J. Singh, Convener of Gyan Setu Think Tank and Col. H. S. Ghuman Deputy Commander – Punjab, Haryana, Himachal and Chandigarh NCC Directorate was also present on the occasion.

The event was sponsored by Fintech Square Mohali, Global India Conclaves and Awards, Healing Hospital, Hero Enterprises, Forum for Awareness of National Security. National Cadet Corps (NCC) was an active partner in the event. Representatives of above organizations – IPS Chatwal from Fintech Square, Vivek Mehra from Global India Conclave and Awards, Dishpreet from Healing Hospital, and Col. H. S. Ghuman actively participated in the event.
