National conference of Neuro ophthalmology-NCNO-2023 kickstarted with a bang today
National conference of Neuro ophthalmology – NCNO-2023 organized by the Department of Neurology PGIMER kick started today with many conference workshops. Neurophthalmology is a balanced amalgam of the important sciences of neurology and ophthalmology. Under the able guidance of Director and Head of department, Prof (Dr.) Vivek Lal, who is the organizing chairman and the motivation behind NCNO, the conference is masterly crafted to cover all essential topics in Neuro ophthalmology. Professor Lal inaugurated the workshop which was attended by more than 150 delegates and students. The workshops were dedicated to basics in neuroophthalmology and were a treat for buddingclinicians who learnt about both neurological and ophthalmological aspects of the related diseases. The role of botulinum toxin in various common disorders like hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm and squint was discussed.
Various prominent dignitaries at the conference included Prof Gordon Plant, Prof Simon Hickman, Prof Andrew Lee, Prof Fiona Costello and renowned Indian faculty included Dr Paramjeet Singh Dr Chirag Ahuja.Dr Ajay Kumar Vats and Dr Gyanranjan Nayak. Dr. Aastha Takkar Kapila, Organizing secretary and Dr. Karthik Vinay Mahesh, joint organizing secretary highlighted the role of understanding basics of neuroophthlmology. The workshops were followed by a very exciting round of quiz for trainees. Dr Monika Singla, Dr Sujith Kumar and Dr Dhananjay Duberker were the quiz masters. Dr. Anuj Gandhi from PGIMER, Chandigarh was the overall winner and Dr. Ankit Khetan from KGMU, Lucknow and Dr. Anuran Mukherjee from NIMHANS, Bengaluru were the first and the second runner ups.
The excitement of ophthalmologists and neurologists at NCNO was both motivating and contagious. Budding neurologists from various colleges from around the country attended the conference and were mesmerized by the knowledge imparted by the speakers.
