Central University of Punjab to conduct exposure tours of youngsters from Punjab to North East
States under GoI ‘Yuva Sangam’ Programme

Bathinda, February 9: The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) has been assigned responsibility
as Nodal HEI for organizing visits of youngsters of North East states in Punjab as well as arranging a visit of
students & off-campus youngsters from Punjab to the identified HEIs in the North Eastern states under the
Yuva Sangam Programme.
The Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan,
launched ‘Yuva Sangam’ portal on Monday. The Yuva Sangam Programme will focus on conducting exposure
tours of youth between the 8 North Eastern States and other States. It will provide an immersive experience
of various facets of life, development landmarks, recent achievements and youth connect in the host state.
The Government of India’s Ministry of Education has conceptualised a “Yuva Sangam” initiative under Ek
Bharat Shreshtha Bharat in collaboration with various other ministries and departments such as Culture,
Tourism, Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Youth Affairs & Sports, Home Affairs, the Department for
the Development of the North-East Region (DoNER), and IRCTC. It aims to strengthen people to people
connect and build empathy between youth of the North Eastern States and other States.
While sharing the details of this programme, Prof. Sanjeev Thakur, Nodal Officer from CUPB, stated that as
a Nodal HEI for the Punjab Region, the Central University of Punjab will select students from HEIs across
the Punjab state, ensuring representation across different regions, academic disciplines, gender, etc. The entire
trip, including end-to-end travel, stay, local movement and other logistic arrangements shall be made Nodal
HEI and the ministries involved.
He informed that CUPB has circulated the communication among all HEI of Punjab region to appraise
youngsters about participating in this programme. According to the communication, students and off-campus
youth ages 18-30 from Punjab who want to participate in the Yuva Sangam multi-dimensional exposure trip
to the NE states can register on the Yuva Sangam portal.The registration link is available on the CUPB website
(http://cup.edu.in/ and on the EBSB website (https://ebsb.aicte-india.org/# . The registration will close on
February 14, 2023. The university will organize a trip selected candidates to Manipur University, Imphal in
the last week of February, 2023.
Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor, expressed his gratitude towards the Hon’ble Prime Minister
Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Minister of Education Shri Dharmendra Pradhan for providing CUPB an
opportunity to contribute to actualizing the vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and strengthening the ‘Spirit
of India’ in Amrit Kaal by organizing Yuva Sangam exposure trips. He stated that these exposure trips will
provide an opportunity to youngsters to celebrate India’s diversity, promote cultural exchange and rejuvenate
the spirit of oneness. He emphasised that Yuva Sangam Tours will promote a sense of respect among
youngsters of different states towards each other’s heritage, culture, customs, and traditions to further the spirit
of Shreshtha Bharat. Prof. Tiwari invited the youth to come forward to register for Yuva Sangam
