Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh attended a special presentation of student participants who will be representing Chandigarh at Kala Utsav . This event took place at Tagore theatre on 21st Dec, 2022. Kala Utsav is an initiative of MOE, under the scheme of Samagra Shiksha to promote arts in education, by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students in the country. Ms Sarabjit Kaur, Mayor of UT Chandigarh; Sh Dharam Pal , IAS , Adviser to the Administrator; Ms. Rakhi Gupta Bhandari, Joint Secretary to the Adviser ; Ms. Purva Garg ( IAS) Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration; Mr. Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, PCS, ​Director School Education-cum- State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Chandigarh and Other officials from the Education Department attended this celebration.
Ms. Purva Garg ( IAS) Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration welcomed the chief guest formally and shared the significance of Kala Utsav in creating awareness about India’s rich cultural heritage and its vibrant diversity among students. She apprised the guests about the state level and national level competitions and the selection process of the winners, who would be representing Chandigarh at the National level in Kala Utsav 2022-23 which will be held at Bhuvneshwar, in the first week of Jan 2023.
Shri Banwarilal Purohit ji, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, congratulated the students for their well crafted performances and innovative projects. He motivated them to dream big and set achievable goals for their life. He also encouraged the students achieve these goals through truthfulness, persistence and perseverance.
The day saw performances by the young participants in Vocal Music–Classical ; Vocal Music–Traditional Folk ; Instrumental Music-Percussive ; Instrumental Music-Melodic ; Dance–Classical ; Dance–Folk and Drama (Solo Acting). The art pieces under Visual Arts (2-dimensional); Visual Arts (3-dimensional) ; Indigenous Toys and Games categories and models and projects created by winners of RBVP and INSPIRE were also exhibited in this event.
Sh. Harsuhinder Pal Singh Brar, PCS, ​Director School Education-cum- State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha, Chandigarh, presented the Vote of thanks. He thanked the chief guest and all the other dignitaries who blessed the occasion with their august presence.
