Schools can start at 9 AM, say child experts in City
In view of the various psychological changes seen in school children after the global pandemic Covid 19, the Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) organized a panel discussion themed on ‘Emotional and Mental Challenges’ at CII Auditorium, Sector 31 on Sunday wherein the concerned experts interacted with the members and shared their views and tips to overcome the opposite state of mind, both for parents and children. While welcoming the panelists, CMA President Gursimran Singh Oberoi and General Secretary Abhishek Gupta said that CMA endeavors are thought upon the societal and managerial issues and get experts to suggest solutions for management for betterment for healthy societal growth. This event is aligned to the social objective amongst technological, academic health and other learning domains.
During the discussion, renowned pediatrician Dr. Mahesh Hiranandani, Head Paedriatics at Cloud-9 Hospital Chandigarh emphasized on the need to ensure preventive personal and public health especially among children as Covid is not yet completely eradicated and may bounce back. He explained in detail about the different types of physical disorders that develop in children post Covid, which include obesity, lack of physical fitness, irregular eating habits, etc. He suggested involving children in sports along with studies, else at least establish a routine of regular exercise. While deliberating on the subject, Shilpi Sood Gill, Principal, St. Kabir School, emphasized on strengthening the bond of emotional and mental health between parents and teachers to curb the threatening environment being created among children. She said that reading habit creates positivity in children, so they should be motivated to read.
Dr Sukhtej Sahni, leading Psychiatrist at Cheema Medical Centre emphasised on the need to accept the changing environment and needs of children and the situation and fear they have gone through along with everyone during Covid. He encouraged participative parenting for seeking behaviour changes in children.
The session was moderated by Life Skills Coach Manjula Sularia. Dozens of members including Association Joint Secretary Navjot Kaur, Treasurer Sukhwinder Bhatia and Executive members Sukhwinder Uppal, Rajan Arora were benefited from this session. The Executive Committee also released their monthly newsletter and announced awards for the Monthly Quiz contest.
Noted Paediatrician Dr. Inderjit Singh and Psyciartist Dr. Satinder Kaur were also present in the audience at this event and drew the attention of all on the benefits emotional and psychological benefits related to not starting schools very early in the morning in light of the changes in the lifestyles of familities and the society as a whole. CMA is the Chandigarh Chapter of All India Management Association and the 66 years old organisation and revitalised itself this year with numerous sessions of interest in health, fitness, society, economic and technological thoughts towards better management. CMA operates through its members both individual professionals and Corporates.
