As per the instruction of the Election Commission of India, the Special Summary Revision of the Photo Electoral Roll, 2023, has begun from the 9th of November, 2022.
As part of SSR-2023, a meeting with representatives of political parties was held today at the Election Department,Chandigarh, under the chairmanship of Shri Vijay N. Zade,Chief Electoral Officer, U.T., Chandigarh.
Sh. Vijay N Zade, requested that all the political parties must appoint booth-level agents (BLAs) at all 597 polling stations in the city.
Shri Vijay N. Zade also informed the political parties about the special camp, which will be held on November 19th and 20th, 2022, and requested that they motivate the residents to take advantage of all services related to voter cards. BLOs will remain present at the polling station from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Additionally, the Chief Electoral Officer has urged residents of Chandigarh, to check their names on the electoral roll on the special campaign dates of November 19 and 20, 2022, at their respective polling station.
Residents of Chandigarh, can also apply if they are not on the electoral roll or if their entries need to be corrected. They can also visit and meet the BLOs on the above-mentioned campaign dates.
Further, Sh. Vijay N Zade has also said that the Election Department in Chandigarh is doing a lot of initiatives and activities to inform the public about the special summary revision 2023, the IT applications (Voterportal and NVSP.in), and new amendments to electoral rules such as the linkage of Aadhaar with voter cards and the 4 qualifying dates.
In continuation of this, a Nukkar Nattak was performed by the Indian Theatre Department, Punjab University, in collaboration with the Election Department, U.T., Chandigarh at plaza Sector 17, Chandigarh.
