Senior Officials of 13 countries participated in 15th International Public Health Management Development Program conducted by PGIMER Chandigarh
PGIMER conduct Public health management program for Senior Officials of 13 countries
Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh raised the curtain of ‘first of its kind in global health sector’ 5-day 15th E- International Public Health Management Development Program (IPHMDP) in support with Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program under the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India from 22nd -26th August, 2022 through an online platform (Zoom). ‘Every year the program was conducted physically where participants from across the globe visit the host country (India) to attend the program. Even in the pandemic era when such physical meetings are prohibited, we managed to organize such programs. The program was conceptualized in the year 2016 and had trained over 725 participants from over 75 countries and almost all states of India since then’, Professor Sonu Goel, Program Director and Professor of Health Management, PGIMER, said during the virtual inaugural ceremony. A total of 28 senior level participants from 13 countries namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, Ghana, Iraq, Maldives, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sri Lanka have registered for this program. This program aims to enhance the skills and competencies of middle and senior level program managers in Communication for addressing public health challenges and strengthening the efficiency of organizations in resource constrained settings.
The technical sessions during the five day course are planned on basics concepts, skills and importance of healthcare communication, planning a digital media campaign, print media advocacy and politico administrative advocacy by Prof. Sonu Goel from PGIMER, Ms. Vaishakshi Mallik from Vital Strategies, Ms. Lopa Ghosh from Global Health Advocacy Incubator, USA and Dr. OP Kansal from Becton, Dickinson and Company. Various contextual examples and case scenarios of public health communication from different countries in health sector will be discussed with the participants of 13 countries. Dr. Kritika Upadhyay, Program coordinator shared that the diverse teaching methodology introduced in the program through short lectures, case studies, quiz, contests like voracious reader, socially active participant, best logo design, best selfie and tagline will be helpful in better learning of key fundamentals of the program. Various energizers and social media sessions will also be organized virtually for the participants. Participants will also prepare an action plan which will be implemented in their own country or settings.
