The Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh inaugurated seven-day workshop ‘KARYASHALA’ being sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB)-DST, New Delhi on “FLOW CYTOMETRY, CONFOCAL MICROSCOPY AND THEIR APPLICATIONS IN CELL CULTURE”. The chief guest of the session, Prof. Amitava Patra, Director, INST, Mohali emphasized the need of expertise in handling the instruments along with learning techniques to match the global standards. He mentioned it as basic necessity for the researchers to excel in their respective fields especially in this era of interdisciplinary approach.
Prof. Raj Kumar, Honourable Vice Chancellor, PU, Chandigarh presided over the occasion and welcomed the young participants with a motivational and inspiring speech. A total of 25 participants across the North India from various Universities and Colleges are participating to gain valuable inputs about animal cell culture and high-end instruments in order to excel in their research work. Prof. Sukhbir Kaur was the resource person for day 1 technical session on flow cytometry and its principle. Besides an elaborated lecture to familiarize with the instrument, Prof. Kaur along with Dr. Jyoti Joshi provided hands on training on quality assessment and instrument validation.
