PRCI participates in World Public Relations Day
– PR practitioners laydown global agenda to professionalise the practice
Chandigarh, July 16: Chandigarh Chapter of Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), hosted an international webinar on World Public Relations Day today.
One of the senior PR professional, and Past President of Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Stephen Waddington from United Kingdom delivering the keynote address said that PR practitioners are engaged in handling and solving complex issues around the globe and it is time for PR bodies to standardize the practice.
He complimented the PRCI for partnering in this global initiative to make the world aware about the public relations practice to address complex issues like climate changes, pandemics, and governance by bridging the gaps between the pedagogy and practice.
Stephen underlined the importance of Truth, Trust and Transparency, which is the theme of ‘World PR Day’ day, to promote ethical behavior and conduct at the professional as well as the organizational levels.
PRCI’s Chairman Emeritus and Chief Mentor, M.B. Jayaram reiterated PRCI’s commitment to spread the message and said that more and more professionals would be involved in capacity building, knowledge sharing and regular training.
Other PR practitioners who joined in the discussions from UK included Eniten Kehinde, and Ayeni Adekunle, who have been spearheading this historic initiative to educate and inform the organizations around the world about the potential of public relations in effectively addressing the issues of reputation management.

CJ Singh senior national Vice President of PRCI who had been leading the Indian initiative on behalf of PR practitioners moderated the programme and said that each PR professional has to continue to learn and upgrade the knowledge and skills to stay in touch with the rapidly evolving transition impacting the lives of the people.
C.J. Singh pointed out that PR is a strategic management discipline and for long it has been misrepresented and simplified to the extent of diluting the very essence of the professional practice.
Chandigarh Chapter Chairman Vivek Atray said PR has much wider relevance and application in managing conflicts and building reputation for the organizations as it has the power to transform the world, as PRCI’s tagline proclaims, “Communication for a Better World”.
Earlier North Zone Chair of PRCI Renuka Salwan welcomed the participants and said that the WPRD celebrations opens up newer opportunities for the PR professionals.
The World PR Day is another global attempt to put things in the right perspective to make organizations aware of its potential and power for bringing about positive transformation in the lives of the people and that of the world.
