To ensure that the Government school infrastructure in UT Chandigarh is upgraded much before the commencement of the classes after the summer break, Secretary Education Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, today (26.05.2022) accompanied by the Director School Education Chandigarh, Chief Engineer Chandigarh along with officers of Education Department and Engineering Department undertook visit to the Govt. Middle School-Kishangarh, Govt. High School Mauli Jagran (under construction), Govt. High School Mauli Colony, Govt. Primary School Mauli Complex and Govt. Middle School Pocket No.6 Manimajra.

During this first of the series of inspection of the schools, the Secretary Education stressed on positive benefits associated with creating an educated population for which the educational facilities infrastructure was a prerequisite. It was noted that 196 students of Govt. Primary School Railway Colony, 250 students of Govt. Primary School Mauli Complex and 1000 students of Govt. High School Mauli Colony are to be shifted to the new Govt. High School Mauli Jagran.

As the students of GMS- Kishangarh are to be shifted to newly constructed building and campus, the works (civil, electrical and horticulture) to be undertaken were reviewed in detail. The Head, GMS-Kishangarh was directed to submit the requirement of student desks, furniture, computer system, CCTVs, drinking water coolers with ROs, fire extinguishers and other related items so that these items can be ordered in good time and the delivery is received before the commencement of classes. The Chief Engineer assured that the building works including the electrical and horticulture works will be completed in all aspects by 20.06.2022 much before the opening of the school after the summer vacations.

Education Secretary emphasised that the possession of Govt. High School Mauli Jagran be handed over by the engineering department by 25.06.2022 so that school can be made functional before the reopening of schools after summer vacations. The Chief Engineer assured that the school infra completed in all aspects will be handed over to the Education Department by 25.06.2022.

Reviewing the other school works being undertaken, the Chief Engineer also assured that the renovation works for Govt. High School Colony No.4 (renamed as Govt. High School Hallomajra Campus-2) will be completed by 30.07.2022. The Chief Engineer also informed that work is already going on for various school projects and tenders have already been floated for construction of additional block in Govt. Middle School Palsora and Govt. High School Kajheri.

The Education Secretary also emphasised that (a) Department will ensure that the students and parents are made aware of these facilities well before the start of classes after summer vacations (b) regular inspections cluster wise will be undertaken for regular upkeep of the schools
