Swachhata Pakhwada, a fortnight long special cleanliness drive at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh culminated on 15th April, 2022. The Pakhwada was launched on 1st April with top officials including Director, Medical Superintendent, Deputy Director, Financial Advisor administering pledge to the functionaries to observe cleanliness and hygiene at their workplace.
During the fortnight, various information and education activities were undertaken to enlighten the employees and more importantly patients and visitors on different aspects of sanitation. Segregation of Municipal Solid waste into dry and wet waste was the focus area of the campaign. Dr Mandeep Bhandari, Joint Secretary, GoI visited the Institute on 6th & 7th April to observe the activities first-hand and was highly appreciative of the sanitation at PGI.
The program culminated on 15th April with a special cleaning drive in the residential campus of PGI at Sector 12. The event was led by Dr Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, Sh. Kumar Dhawan, Deputy Director, Sh. Kumar Abhay, Financial Advisor and Dr Pankaj Arora, Joint Medical Superintendent. Department of Hospital Administration, Sanitation department, Engineering Department and Residents Welfare Association collaborated to organise the special drive. Medical Superintendent urged the residents to actively participate in maintaining the campus throughout the year and improve the aesthetics and environment. Chairperson, RWA appreciated the role of administration and sanitation department in helping them in their endeavour to beautify the campus. On this occasion, Sanitation department presented four cycle carts to RWA to carry out door to door collection of segregated waste.
