Power crisis due to short-sightedness of state government – Kumari Selja
Chandigarh, April 12 – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said that the power crisis in the state was the result of the short-sightedness of the BJP-JJP alliance government. Summer season comes every year, but not preparing for it in advance shows the anti-people attitude of the government. At the beginning of summer, there had been an outcry in the entire state due to power cuts and the situation may worsen in the coming days.
In a statement issued to the media, Kumari Selja said that the state government had failed to get its share of electricity from the big power suppliers as per the power agreement made earlier. There was no demand for electricity from them. The operators of these power companies were very powerful and they had direct association with the top people in the central government and BJP. In such a situation, the state government was afraid to ask for the rights of Haryana from them.
The Haryana Congress President said that the state government buys a large share from Adani to meet the power requirements and Adani was proving to be laggy in providing electricity to Haryana due to hike in coal prices.
Kumari Selja said that at present, no area of the state, whether urban or rural, was untouched by power cuts. Wheat harvesting season was going on in the villages and after working hard in the field for the whole day, farmers were unable to sleep peacefully at night due to no electricity. This was the situation in cities. Due to long cuts, the inverters had started failing.
She said that the situation was getting worse since a week and there was no improvement in it, it was the proof of the irresponsibility of the State Government. In the coming days, the heat wave will increase further and in June the demand for electricity will also be at peak for paddy sowing. In such a scenario, the situation can worsen due to the absence of electricity in the state, said Kumari Selja.
