“Swachhata Pakhwada” launched at PGIMER, Chandigarh
Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Institute, (PGIMER) Chandigarh is observing Swachhata Pakhwada, from 1st April, 2022. Swachhata Pakhwada was started in April 2016 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata by engaging various Ministeries/Departments of Government of India. This is one of the key programs under Swachh Bharat Mission.
On the auspicious day of 2nd April when the parts of country welcome New Year, Prof Surjit Singh, Director, PGI administered pledge to the senior functionaries of the Institute including Medical Superintendent, Deputy Director (Administration), Financial Advisor, Superintending Hospital Engineer and Faculty members of Department of Hospital Administration. He urged those present to imbibe the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi regarding community service and resolve to spend time in educating people about virtues of good sanitation practices. He further appealed to everyone to undertake special drives to clean their workplaces.
Prof Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER stressed the need of making Swachhata as a part of our daily lives and not limit it to the fifteen days. He appreciated the role of different stakeholders especially Sanitation department and Engineering department in maintaining the healthy environment in the Institute.
Dr Pankaj Arora, Associate Professor, Hospital Administration listed the various activities planned for the next fortnight to celebrate Swacchata Pakhwada.
