Thalassaemic Charitable Trust(Regd) organised its 244th Blood Donation Camp on 5th March 2022 (Saturday) in PGIMER , Chandigarh under COVID19 guidelines. Total 58 voluntary donors donated blood in this camp.
Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary thanked Dr. Vanita Gupta, Ex-Director Health and Family Welfare UT Chandigarh and her team from Inner Wheel Club, Chandigarh for visiting this blood donation camp. Shri Rajinder Kalra also expressed deep gratitude to Head of Department and staff of Blood Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER and all voluntary blood donors for success of this Camp.
The 245th Blood Donation Camp of the Trust will be organized on 12th March 2022. Shri Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust appeals to all voluntary blood donors and Blood Donor Groups to donate blood the camp for Thalasaemics and other serious patients requiring blood support in PGIMER.
This Trust has organised 60 Blood donation camps since 6th June 2020 during COVID19 lockdown period to help Blood Bank of PGIMER, Chandigarh to provide blood to Thalassaemics and other serious patients requiring blood support. More than 8500 units of blood has been collected in these camps till date.
Thalassaemia is a genetic blood disorder which induces chronic anemia. Regular Blood transfusion after 15-20 days is widely recommended treatment for maintaining optimal Hemoglobin level. Thalassaemic Charitable Trust is organising blood donation camps and serving thalassaemics since 1985. Presently about 450 Thalasaemics are availing blood transfusion facilities in our two Day Care Centres in PGIMER & GMCH Chandigarh. Free medicines are also provided to poor patients by the Trust.
