Pulse Polio drive in Chandigarh: 105% children immunized in last three days
Chandigarh: 97190 children were immunised i.e 105% during the three days of National Immunisation Day (NID) Pulse Polio Round held from 27th Feb to 1st March 2022 in U.T Chandigarh.
Teams of Health Department visited each and every house and ensured that every child less than five years old was administered with Polio drops. Teams covered whole of Chandigarh and special focus was on the vulnerable areas i.e parts of the city where homeless, nomads, all the construction sites where rag pickers and beggars settle down with their children. Polio and COVID Vaccination stalls were set up in Rose Festival so that no child was left unimmunized.
With franctic efforts of night teams 117 children have been immunized in the night hours during “TAARE ZAMEEN PAR”- A NIGHT VIGIL activity in different parts of the city. To execute this activity, four teams were constituted comprising of health functionaries and Police Personnel. This activity was carried out with support and cooperation of Police Department.
Multilevel Monitoring & supervision was done at various levels by the internal supervisors & external monitors deployed by WHO.
