National Science Day celebrations at Panjab University
On the occasion of “National Science Day”, the Indian Science Congress Association (Chandigarh Chapter) in collaboration with the Centre for Medical Physics organized a distinguished lecture on “CHANGING LANDSCAPE OF LIFE SCIENCES RESEARCH” by Dr. A.K. Singh, CEO Biotech Park, Lucknow & former Director General (Life-Sciences) DRDO to celebrate National Science Day. The theme for National Science Day (NSD) of the year 2022 is ‘Integrated Approach in Science & Technology for Sustainable Future’. Dr. Vivek Kumar, Chairperson, Centre for Medical Physics welcomed all the participants. Prof. Baljinder Singh, Head of Nuclear Medicine Department, PGIMER introduced the distinguished speaker to the audience. Prof. R.C. Sobti has introduced the session chair Prof. Ved Prakash Kamboj, Former Director CDRI, Lucknow to the audience and motivated all for the application of new techniques in the life-sciences. Prof. Singh has elaborated the journey of human life from interaction of molecule towards the communication between different organs. He also discussed about the use of technology in the fields of agriculture, livestock, gene editing, healthcare, insects & production of affordable, easily available and efficient medicines including vaccines. Researchers are now using artificial intelligence in the areas of biological sciences for better understanding of the different mechanisms. He highlighted the significance of human genome project and its use for prediction of human health related disorders. The lecture was very interactive, integrative and informative. Prof. R.C. Deka, Former Director, AIIMS and Prof. R.C. Sobti, Former Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University & BBAU, Lucknow also attended the webinar. More than 100 students, research scholars, faculty members and scientists attended the webinar. Prof. M.C. Sidhu, Deptt. of Botany, P.U. has given vote of thanks.
