10th round of India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue is a part of the continuum of friendship between our two countries- Banwarilal Purohit
Chandigarh, February 20:
Terming the India-Bangladesh dialogue held over the past three days in Shimla as positive symbolism of the mutuality of friendship and common shared interests between the two countries, Sh Banwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab and Administrator U.T Chandigarh said that the 10th round of India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue is an added part of the continuum of friendship between our two countries.
“I have full faith in the very idea of such a dialogue, and believe that such interactions will strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries,” said Purohit. This India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue, I am sure, has served the purpose and will keep doing so even in the future, said the Governor during his address to the delegates of India and Bangladesh on their visit to Chandigarh.
Bangladesh and India are not just geographical neighbours, but also claim a common legacy of history and culture and a robust intellectual heritage. Not a day has passed in the past fifty years when Bangladesh and India have not joined heads, hearts and hands to serve common purposes, common goals, and common dreams, said he adding that “very rare is such a friendship.”
The India-Bangladesh Friendship Dialogue is a good example of how the two countries are trying to work out a mutually beneficial relationship. In fact, it can be said safely that Bangladesh and India have offered to the world one wonderful example of mutual cooperation and co-existence on the strength of shared dreams, said he.
Hoping that those who came to the Dialogue will go back to their respective homes with happy memories of the high-quality interaction among themselves, the Governor said that both the nations have a common neighbourhood, a common history, a common heritage and common interests; so a common platform of friendship to stand will go a long way to carve a great future together.
Senior leaders and prominent participants from India and Bangladesh were present on the occasion including Muhammad Shahriar Alam, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh, Ram Madhav, member of the Governing Council of the India Foundation, ASM Shamsul Arefin, Chairman Bangladesh Foundation for Regional Studies and Chief Coordinator, Friends of Bangladesh. The event was held at Hotel Mount View, Sector 10, Chandigarh.
Earlier, the Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Dharam Pal, extended a floral welcome to the Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, Chandigarh along with the delegates of Bangladesh. Following this, the Governor felicitated the prominent members of the delegation.
The Delegates from Bangladesh also felicitated the Administrator by presenting him a book on Bangladesh celebrating its fifty years of liberation.
