Launch of STUTI Program at CIL Lab, PU on February 22, 2022 by Vice Chancellor

Panjab University Chandigarh has received a grant amounting 2.5 crores under Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (STUTI) Program from DST New Delhi. Prof. Ganga Ram Chaudhary, Coordinator STUTI Program PU told that this program is aimed at development of human resources and their capacity building by providing open access to science and technology infrastructure. Under this program, it is planned to organize 22 Training Programs of 7 days each in one year. Under this program, 14 Awareness Programs for Class XI-XII Science students are going to be organized during science week i.e. during February 22-28, 2022 to celebrate AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV. The program will work on a hub and spoke model. As a hub Panjab University will organize 3 Awareness Programs i.e. on 22, 23 and 28th February, 2022 and 11 Awareness Programs will be organized by spokes of STUTI Program PU including GNDU Amritsar, PAU Ludhiana, NIT Srinagar, University of Kashmir, HPU MLSM College Sundernagar, GJUST Hisar, DCRUST Murthal, Punjabi university DAV college Abohar, IFS College of Pharmacy Moga, Shoolini University Solan, INST Mohali etc. More than 1500 students from various schools will participate in STUTI awareness program of Panjab University Hub and spokes during science week.
On February 22, 2022, the event will be inaugurated by Prof. Raj Kumar, VC, PU. STUTI Portal will also be launched during the inaugural function. Prof. R.K. Sinha, VC, Gautam Budhha University, Greater Noida will be present as Chief Guest of the event who will be delivering a plenary address on ‘Popularization of Science’. In the first Awareness Program, 100 students of XI and XII science stream from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sr. Sec. School, Sector 35 B, Chandigarh will be participating in various activities like quizzes, declamation, poster making competition etc. A popular lecture on ‘Fascinating facts of chemistry’ will be delivered by Prof. KK Bhasin, NASI-Platinum Jubilee fellow and Emeritus Professor, PU. Prof. Ramesh Sharma, Program Coordinator Awareness Program, told that the most important component of the event will be the lab tours to the sophisticated analytical instrumentation labs where students will learn about high-end research facilities. On the same day, STUTI team will also visit Ankur School, Sector 14 and interact with students to promote science and technology.
In these events, the main focus would be to popularize science and research among the budding science students by organizing various activities like quizzes, declamation, poster making competition and visits to Analytical Instrumentation.
