Over 13000 police officers and jawans deployed on ‘Police Presence Day’
Chandigarh, Feb 8 – In order to create fear among criminal elements and to have a people-friendly force, Police Presence Day was observed on 22.01.2022 and it witnessed 1801 Foot Patrol Parties comprising about 13857 police officers and jawans across the State.
Under this special drive, 5247 streets, 1525 market areas and 2320 others locations were covered for the safety and security of residents of Haryana.
Sharing this information, Addl. Director General of Police, Haryana, Sh. A.S. Chawla said that Home Minister, Sh. Anil Vij under whose guidance Haryana Police is constantly working to curb crime and criminal activities, had instructed to observe the day with an aim to instill a sense of security amongst the residents, particularly the vulnerable sections of the society.
On this day, maximum police force was on roads/streets, markets and other public locations where people are commuting, mostly to keep a check on bad elements. During the activity, police personnel have also made an appeal to the public to share any kind of information about anti-social and criminal elements in the area.
“Our officers and jawans are trying to win people’s confidence on this day which happens once every month. In addition, government guidelines were also shared with residents to protect against Covid. Those walking without masks were also instructed to wear masks and maintain proper distancing.
Police Presence Day is a new initiative by Haryana Police and is being observed once every month to check criminal activity, contain anti-social and bad elements by putting up nakas and foot patrolling from 9 am to 3 pm during the day.
