Fee hike is illegitimate, government should curb: Kumari Selja
Due to Corona, employment opportunities decreased and people had limited income
Chandigarh – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said that the people of the state were suffering due to Corona for two years. Their sources of income have reduced and unemployment is increasing. Haryana is becoming number-1 in the country in terms of unemployment. Nevertheless, the state government in collusion with private schools is preparing to put a huge burden of fee hike on the parents. The State Government has also started work in this direction, she added.
In a statement issued to the media, Kumari Selja said that from last two years, the deteriorating economic condition of the people of the state is not hidden from anyone. People neither got government jobs according to the vacancies nor were their jobs secured in the private sector. The magnitude of the first, second and third wave of Corona limited all kinds of business. Due to this, employment was decreasing and those who remained employed, their income continued to decrease. Kumari Selja said that by turning away from all these, the state government is playing in the hands of private school operators. For this reason, children from poor families have not been able to get admission in private schools even after 10 months of the current academic session have passed. Now going a step further, a conspiracy is being hatched to increase the fees of those whose children are studying in private schools from the academic session starting from April 1.
Kumari Selja said that the anti-people BJP-JJP alliance government has asked all private schools in the state to fill Form 6 by February 1. Schools that fill these forms will be able to increase the fees by 10.13 percent with effect from April 1. Whereas, in the last two years, neither private schools have had to incur any additional expenditure, nor has there been any increase in the income of any person in these two years.
Haryana Congress President said that in these two years, most of the time children have attended online classes. In such a situation, there was no expenditure on electricity, water, maintenance, paint and school bus in the schools. Most of the schools have even slashed the salaries of their staff. Despite this, preparations have been started to hike fee in the midst of the Corona epidemic. Kumari Selja said that the state government should not allow private schools to increase fee under any circumstances. The increase in fee will raise another new crisis in front of the parents, who are facing recession. Therefore, with immediate effect, the state government should cancel any fee hike order from April 1 and provide relief to lakhs of families in the state.
