Education Secretary Sh. Sarpreet Singh Gill, and Sh. Jagjit Singh, Director Higher Education released a book entitled “Mental Health: Psycho-Social, Cognitive, Developmental and Interdisciplinary Approach”.

The book has been edited by Dr. Narinder Singh, Assistant Professor, Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector-11, Chandigarh and Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dean & Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Post Graduate Govt. College, Sector-46, Chandigarh and published by Global Vision Publishing House, New Delhi.

On this occasion Education Secretary Sh. Sarpreet Singh Gill, while appreciating the efforts of Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Narinder Singh, emphasised that more and more such efforts by the academicians must be made to generate awareness regarding mental health issues in the society in the dynamically changing and challenging scenario.

Director Higher Education, Sh. Jagjit Singh, appreciated and congratulated both Dr. Rajesh Kumar and Dr. Narinder Singh for their contribution for the welfare of the society. He further shared that as the society is economically progressing, the societal structure is declining. Hence, there is ever increasing demand for awareness regarding mental health issues.

The book basically focuses on the issues of mental health awareness among the masses, promote prevention, and stimulate practical intervention. The impact of internet on mental health has become an indispensable part of modern life, but it also has repercussions that are likely to affect everyone’s mental health in some way.

During COVID-19, many challenges related to network connectivity and technological issues hampered the work culture which affects the mental health of an individual directly. As a result, there is an increase in stress and a decrease in commitments in the life. This led to decline in mental health. This book is an effort to deal with such mental issues.
