No new relaxations/restrictions imposed after the weekly COVID war-room meeting by the Administrator.
Strict action be taken against those moving without masks in public places- Administrator
Chandigarh, January 20: Reviewing the Covid preparedness of the city, the Administrator directed all the officials to pull up the gear against the fight with COVID 19. Keeping the tab on all the arrangements made by the city hospitals, the Administrator showed his satisfaction over the efforts made by the Administration, but has stressed on adopting different strategy in improving the testing rate.
The Administrator lauded the aggressive approach followed by Health Department in administering vaccination to the targeted population, but has also asked to improve the vaccination rate in the category of 15-18 years, which is currently 66.37%. He also showed his concern in covering the remaining population for second dose of Covid vaccination. Urging the residents of Chandigarh to vaccinate, the Administrator said that,” Vaccination is the only way to protect ourselves from the grip of prevailing virus”.
The Administrator directed the enforcement of strict Covid protocols at the public places. He said that penalties should be imposed on individuals and institutions who are found violating the protocols, especially those found without masks.
Knowing the 70% bed availability in the premier health institutions, the Administrator expressed his satisfaction on the readiness of the city for any unforeseen circumstances. Sh. Purohit ordered to continue the previous restrictions without any relaxations.
It is also clarified that there is no move by the Chandigarh Administration for setting up the mini Covid care centre in the Punjab University Hostels. Sh.Purohit said that PU hostel students need not panic over this issue
Updating the current COVID scenario, the officers of the Tricity informed that Mohali has 8574 active cases, Panchkula has 2140 active cases while UT, Chandigarh has 9966 active cases.
The meeting was attended by Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary, Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary, Sh. Yashpal Garg, Secretary Health at the Administrator’s office. While Sh. Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator. Sh. Praveer Ranjan, Director General of Police, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, the Deputy Commissioners of Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali, Director, PGIMER, Director Principal, GMCH-32 and Director Health Services, GMSH-16 attended through Video Conferencing.
