CHILDREN VACCINATION
The vaccination of children between the age of 15yrs to 18yrs started from 3rd January 2022 and so far we have vaccinated about 65% of the targeted population (72,000). Here it is mentioned that we are quite behind because many of the States/UTs have covered more than 90% of their targeted population of children. We set a target of providing first dose vaccination to 100% of the targeted population of our children but now it is not possible due to slow pace of daily vaccination. Now we have revised the target to 26th January.
PRE-CAUTION DOSE:
The targeted population of 60 years plus with co-morbid in UT Chandigarh is 15,600. Further the targeted population of HWs and FWs is 26237 and 22438 respectively. Precaution Dose to all these eligible persons is being administered from 10th January, 2022.
The COVID infection is spreading in the City at an alarming speed and we have already crossed the daily cases, daily positivity rate, weekly positivity rate and active cases on a particular day recorded during the 1st & 2nd wave. There are more than 9500 active COVID cases in the City. After minor dip, the increasing trend in daily positive cases is back and hence we need to be very careful. Yesterday there were two COVID deaths in the UT Chandigarh and unfortunately both of them were un-vaccinated.
The Health Department has deployed lot of its resources for early vaccination of the eligible persons in UT Chandigarh. There are sufficient number of vaccines and there is no waiting time for getting the vaccination either for first dose or for second dose. All the citizens are requested to ensure that they have taken both the doses of the CVOID vaccination and also to ensure that their friends/relative/known persons are also covered.
