The Adviser to the Administrator UT., Chandigarh vide order no. 13180-HIII(5)/2022/295 dated 06-01-2022 has directed to restrict the movement/operations in UT., Chandigarh to contain the spread of COVID-19 in UT., Chandigarh. In this order it has been directed that “In Subji Mandi, Sector-26, Chandigarh only rehri walas / vendors to be allowed with the conditions that all are fully vaccinated and no entry for retail customer/ general public shall be allowed w.e.f 10-01-2022”. The Deputy Commissioner, UT., Chandigarh alongwith SDM (C) cum Administrator, Market Committee visited mandi today i.e on 11-01-2022. During the visit the entry/exit gates were inspected. The Deputy Commissioner directed that the entry of the retail customer/general public should be strictly prohibited in the mandi. The other activities of wholesale sale/purchase activities should continue. The entry/exit gates will be regulated by the Police staff and the Market Committee Staff. It was further directed by the Deputy Commissioner that the squatters / phairwalas should be removed from the mandi to discourage the retail sales. The Deputy Commissioner also directed to chalk out the proposal for segregation of the garbage of mandi for its appropriate disposal. The CREST officials of Chandigarh have been directed to prepare the plan/ proposal in consultation with Market Committee for garbage disposal as per Swachhata Guidelines. The site near petrol pump in sector-26 for installation of decomposition pits was also seen. Further action for installation of decomposition pits will be taken in the next few days.
