PGIMER Dr. Kim Vaiphei elected as the President of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists
Dr Kim Vaiphei, Professor in the department of Histopathology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been elected as the President of Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists for the year 2021-22. The election was held online. Her success is a recognition towards her unconditional contributions in the field of Indian Pathology in the last 35 years.
Her main motto is working towards further upliftment of the Association, which is one of the oldest academic associations in India, by practicing an inclusive model at grassroot level. She believes that the state chapters are the most important component for any National level Association or Society, and can be used as the measuring yardstick for quality control. Hence, interactions of the teachers with the students at Medical Colleges will be an essential step by teaching the young minds the roles of the subject “Pathology” in day-to-day patient care and in understanding diseases. A text book dealing with interpretation of endoscopic gastric biopsy authored by her has just been published.
Prof Kim is a well- known researcher mainly in the fields of gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatic diseases, dealing with immensely important conditions. Based on her academic and research contributions, she has received recognition multiple times from National and International organisations including WHO. She is famous amongst her contemporaries and students as a strict and disciplined teacher. Her uncompromising teaching includes laying of a stable professional foundation based on honesty and sincerity for a successful career.
