Renowned Dogri singer Sonali Dogra receives the Prem Jamwal Art Innovation Award for lending her mesmerizing voice to Kunwar Viyogi’s Dogri wedding song – Baabal. Dogri Sanstha President and KVM Trust Advisory Board member Lalit Mangotra bestowed Sonali with the award on Wednesday.
Sonali received the award for experimenting with Dogri folk – Baakh in Baabal – the wedding song that portrays tender emotions between a father and his daughter. The sweet pain of watching his little girl leave his humble home and the many memories she leaves is depicted beautifully in this video. Featuring actor/director Aarushi Thakur Rana in her most memorable role thus far, Baabal – the wedding song is composed by Brij Mohan.
Lauding Sonali for the recognition, Lalit Mangotra said that he is very pleased that a talented singer like Sonali won the award as her talent is an inspiration for youth who wish to make a mark in the field of music. He said that the Trust has always encouraged artists to showcase their talent and realise their dreams, which is very noteworthy.
