            5 Days Security Guard Training Program commences at PU

The Department of Defence and National Security Studies and Centre for Police Administration in collaboration with Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) is organising a “Five Days Security Guard Training Program” for Panjab University security personnel from 26 – 30 October 2021 at Seminar Hall, Centre for Police Administration.

Dr Jaskaran Singh Waraich gave the introduction of the five day course and delivered the welcome address. He also highlighted the importance of training program to the security personnel to keep University campus safe.

Shri Kuldeep Chahal, SSP Chandigarh Police in his inaugural speech motivated participants and also encouraged them to do their duty sincerely. He also highlighted the importance of efficiency and collective efforts of the security personnel to achieve their tasks. Moreover, he also shared his personal experiences of his student life in the University and his interaction with security personnel at Panjab University. SSP also suggested the security personnel to be more vigilant in their duties while also gathering information of anti-social elements in the campus.

Prof. Anju Suri talked about the importance of security personnel in providing security, strengthening and smooth functioning of the University.

Major Sandeep Sangwan (Retd), who is a pioneer in the field of private security and has vast experience in training private security personnel. He discussed the importance of regular training programs for the security personnel to keep them motivated to do their duties. He also highlighted the challenges faced by the security personnel during their duty and also gave few suggestions to overcome these challenges.

Prof. Promila Pathak highlighted the importance of training programs for the security personnel so that service-related skills of the security personnel can be honed. She also suggested that training program for the security personnel should be organized on the regular basis.

Capt. Kashmir Singh was also present at the event who will be the Chief Instructor of this five-day training program. The focus of the training programme will be on overall professional development of the participants from the University Security.

Dr Jaskaran Singh Waraich Chairperson, Department of Defence and National Security Studies and Dr Kuldeep Singh, Centre for Police Administration are the coordinators of the training program.

Those present in the inaugural session included Prof. Promila Pathak, Department of Botany, Prof. Anju Suri, Dean International Students and Prof. Anil Monga, Chairperson Centre for Police Administration, Sh. Vikram Singh, Chief Security Panjab University, Major Sandeep Sangwan (Retd), Director Olive Green Security.

The inaugural session ended with formal Vote of Thanks by Dr Kuldeep Singh.
