Chandigarh, 30th September, 2021- The Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has always been at the forefront of bringing about change and shown great zeal to serve society.

POSHAN Maah is being celebrated throughout the country from 1st to 30th September 2021. To mark the last day of the celebrations and make it a milestone in the commemoration of the POSHAN Abhiyaan, a State Level function – Exposure visit at Botanical – POSHAN Maah-2021 – was organised with full enthusiasm on 30th September 2021 at the Botanical Garden, Sarangpur, Chandigarh.

Ms. Nikita Pawar, Secretary Social Welfare graced the event by doing the honour of being present as the Chief Guest of the function. Dr. Abdul Qayum (IFS,DCF) and Ms. Navjot Kaur, Director, Social Welfare, also attended the event.

The event was kicked off with a Signature Campaign, pledging to religiously follow a healthy lifestyle by consuming nutritious food. A Selfie Booth – Poshan Ki Gaadi – was also set up to make the event more engaging for children. Mobile Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre was set up outside the venue. Further, a Demonstration of Herbal Plants was done, and beneficiaries were made aware of their benefits. These plants were also distributed to the Field Functionaries. Demonstration of Healthy Recipes was also done along with the Distribution of Nutrition Kit to 05 Adolescent Girls.

Secretary, Social Welfare encouraged all the Health Workers & Stakeholders to continue the task ahead. She also thanked them for their unconditional dedication and work towards society.

Further, she educated the audience about the Five Sutras of POSHAN. She emphasized the importance of the First 1000 Days of Child, Hand Washing, Sanitation, and Poshtik Aahar. She warned about the ills of anaemia and diarrhoea. She further thanked all the line departments for their valuable support and urged them to keep working in convergence with the Department of Social Welfare to fight malnutrition in Chandigarh.
