Award Ceremony for the Jan Andolan: Shayari, Poster, Poem, Song and International Yoga Day 2021 video competition organized by COVID-19 Prevention and IEC Committee, PGIMER, Chandigarh

 

An Award ceremony was organized on 31st August 2021 in PGIMER, Chandigarh for the Jan Andolan: Shayari, Poster, Poem, Song and International Yoga Day 2021 video competition organized by COVID-19 Prevention and IEC Committee, PGIMER, Chandigarh in association with World NCD Federation. The dignitaries present in the function were Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGI, Mr. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director (Administration) PGI, Prof. JS Thakur, Chairman and Dr. Arpit Gupta Convenor, COVID-19 Prevention and IEC Committee, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Prof Thakur gave the overview of the tasks organized by the special committee COVID-19 Prevention and IEC Committee since 2020.

As a Health promoting activity to advocate COVID19 preventive behaviour under the Government of India initiative, ‘Jan Andolan’ campaign, a Poster competition and Song, Poem and Shayari competition for the PGI faculty, residents, students and office staff was organized. The winners of the competition were felicitated by the Director of the Institute Prof. Jagat Ram. Mr. Ankur Saini , Ms. Navjot kaur and Ms. Navjot Saini, Ms. Antra and Ms. Anchal were first , second and third prize winners respectively for the poster competition . Consolation Prize went to Dr. Ashok kumar and Ms. Shivani Dhiman. For poem competition, first prize went to Dr. Arushi Gahlot Saini, second prize winner was Ms. Ankita Chaudhary, third prize went to Dr. Arihant Jain while consolation Prize winner was Dr. Sanjay Kumar. The prize winners of song competition were Dr. Savleen Kaur, Dr. Vivek Sagar and Ms. Jatina Vij for first, second and third prize respectively. Mr. Manthan Maan,  Mrs. Parveen Sharma and Dr. Naveen Prashar bagged first, second and third prize respectively for the Shayari competition.

Also on the occasion of International Yoga Day 2021 a video competition was organized on 21st June 2021, by COVID 19 Prevention and IEC Committee, PGI and World NCD Federation. The theme selected for the celebration was “Yoga at Home and Yoga with family”. This theme was in sync with the current pandemic situation and could make encourage people to practice Yoga at the comfort of their home, which strengthens the COVID 19 appropriate behavior. To mark the celebration a competition short video making competition was organized, in which the participants were encouraged to make a video of 15sec-1 minute depicting the above-mentioned theme. A total of 78 entries were received from all over the tri-city and the enthusiasm of the participants could be noted. People from all group participated in the competition, ranging from 3 years to 80 years. The entries were evaluated based on, content, relevance, quality, execution, and mass appeal. Top four entries were selected Mrs. Sapna – First Prize, Mr. Amit Sharma – Second Prize, Dr. Kirajeet Kaur- Third Prize and Baby Aanvi Rawat- Consolation Prize were awarded certificates.

Mr. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director (Administration) PGI, congratulated the efforts of the committee in leading the research and educational activities undertaken for COVID-19 pandemic.

Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGI congratulated and appreciated the efforts made by the committee and highlighted the important tasks undertaken by the committee under the chairmanship of Prof JS Thakur. The key activities included running of helpline, development of education material for COVID-19, National webinar series, training of group D staff and implementation of COVID appropriate behaviour by organizing such competitions for health care professionals and general public. He congratulated all the participants and winners of the competitions.

Prof. Jagat Ram, Director PGI and Mr. Kumar Gaurav Dhawan, Deputy Director (Administration) PGI also released the Special issue of International Journal of Noncommunicable diseases on “COVID-19 and NCDs” which is an official publication of World NCD Federation.

Dr. Arpit Gupta, Convenor, COVID-19 Prevention and IEC Committee, PGIMER highlighted the activities of the committee which includes development of posters, FAQs, information booklet on COVID-19, mental health guidelines on coping with stress, a special webinar series on COVID-19 and NCDs viewed by 60K, liaison with all associations, video messages, yoga day celebration, helpline for general public for COVID-19, SMS campaign etc.
