Chandigarh.16th August,2021:Ms. Vanshita Verma, a talented trainee of Sh. Karanbir Singh Butter, Weight Lifting Coach posted at Sports Complex-42, Chandigarh added one more feather in the cap of Chandigarh Sports Department by winning the Gold medal in 33rd Junior National and Bronze medal in 36th, Senior National Wt. Lifting Championships in 76 Kg wt. Category by lifting 83 Kgs in Snatch and 115Kgs in Clean and Jerk event. In total she lifted 198 Kgs. The Championship in both the categories was conducted simultaneously at SAI N.I.S. Patiala from 9th to 13th Aug 2021.
Ms. Vanshita Verma had also participated in the 3rd Khelo India Games held at Guwahati 2020 but could not make her way to the final round and lost to her competitors in the semi-final securing 4th position. After her first exposure to the Khelo India National level competition, she kept her training updated with zeal even during the covid-19 lockdown period for winning a medal incoming competition. The Coach is very much optimistic about her better performance at the international level too.
Ms. Vanshita and her Coach were given a warm welcome by Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Sports in his office with an assurance of best sports facilities provision to her for training.
