Mrs. Harbhajan Kaur, a well known Philanthropist, continuesher acts of charity

with her donation of Surgical Gloves worth Rs 2 Lakhs for Healthcare Workers of PGIMER

 

Chandigarh : 6 July :  : Mrs Harbhajan Kaur, a well known philanthropist dedicated to the cause of poor and needy, showcased another exemplary generous gesture and lent a helping hand to PGIMER as she handed over surgical gloves worth Rs. 2 Lakhs for the healthcare workers of PGIMER here today.

 

The sum of money for the purchase of surgical gloves was contributed by Mr. AmanPreet Singh, son of MrsHarbhajan Kaur,reiterating that charity is innate to the family.

 

Mrs. Harbhajan Kaur along with her husband Mr Iqbal Singh handed over 25,000surgical gloves for patient care services in the august presence of Prof. A.K. Gupta, Sub Dean (Academics), Medical Superintendent & Head, Deptt. of Hospital Administration, PGIMER and his team.

 

Expressing his gratitude and thanking Mr. & Mrs. Singh for their generous gesture, Prof. A.K. Gupta, stated that, “The Singh family is an apostle of benevolence and kindness and their commitment for the poor and needy patients is indescribable. They have been so magnanimously contributing to the Institute and Poor Patient Cell of PGIMER in assorted forms; be it donations in money; medicines or treatment for the ‘not so privileged’ patients since the last ten-twelve years.”They have also set a role model for others to emulate as supporting and hand-holding the destitute patients is a true service to mankind.”

 

“Considering the patient load here in PGIMER from across the Northern Region, this noble contribution towards strengthening medical resources of PGIMER will immensely help the healthcare workers here in the institute.”

 

Mrs. Harbhajan Kaur, shared her sentiments as said, “Gurbani teaches us, kiratkaronaamjapo and wand kechhako. I am of the conviction that Almighty has assigned us some duty to make our lives worthwhile. There will never be scarcity if all of us share His abundant gifts with others. This will give us peace which no material possession can ensure.”

 

Recognizing her  commendable social commitment  and compassionate social MrsHarbhajan Kaur has been awarded with Chandigarh Administration’s Commendation Certificate, ; PGIMER’s Award of Honour & Felicitation, ; PTC Punjabi &NanhiChhaan Foundation’s Sirjanhari Award, DainikBhaskar’sBhaskar Woman of the Year Award, Social Dev. Council, Punjab’s ShriromaniSamajSewi Award etc for her unwavering commitment to poor patients & underprivileged students.

 

Today’s generous donation of surgical gloves comes as a continuation of the tradition of charitable contributions made by Mrs Harbhajan Kaur and her family including her grand children to the cause of poor and destitute here in PGIMER for the past number of years amounting to lakhs of rupees.

 

Even COVID-19 did not deter her from charity as she distributed ration kits to 1000 families of daily wagers in MakhanMajra village and 400 families of rickshaw pullers who were rendered without work during COVID. She also supported the medical treatment of many patients during the challenging COVID times.

 

In addition, she  has also contributed for the pension of destitute women, setting up of vocational and skill training centers, physiotherapy centers, supporting the education of under privileged children and construction of building  of GurudwaraChheviPatshahi, Sector 12 to mention a few of her noble deeds.
