Chandigarh, 1st July 2021: A review meeting of the Excise Branch of Excise & Taxation Department, U.T., Chandigarh was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar IAS, Deputy Commissioner – cum- Excise & Taxation Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh.
Sh. R K Popli PCS, Collector shared that there are total 93 vends allotted during the current policy year i.e. 2021-22 and that Chandigarh has 12 Bottling Plants. He also briefed the Excise and Taxation Commissioner regarding the steps being followed by the Bottling Plants for producing liquor and the checks that are in place for enforcement activities.
Sh. Mandip Singh Brar IAS, Deputy Commissioner – cum- Excise & Taxation Commissioner directed all officers to ensure that all mandatory enforcement measures as per the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 and the corresponding Rules should
be strictly enforced by the ETOs/ETIs.
They were asked to ensure that all liquor vends adhere to the prescribed timings.
It was also directed that each consignment should be against only valid permit/pass. The officers were further directed to ensure that all issues pertaining to inter-state smuggling be enquired in a time bound manner and penal action, if necessary, be taken as per the Act. He further directed that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated and strict disciplinary action will be taken against the Officials concerned.
Meeting was attended by the senior officers of the Department ,Sh. R K Popli PCS, Collector (X), Sh. Sorabh Kumar Arora PCS, Assistant Excise &Taxation Commissioner, Excise & Taxation Officers and all the Excise & Taxation Inspectors.
