A webinar on ‘Swachhta during Covid Pandemic’ was organised today by the Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau,Chandigarh,Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. During webinar the guest speaker, Smt. Pinki Yadav, District Programme Manager, Rewari said that most of the diseasescan be prevented if one maintains a clean environment. She said safe disposal of medical waste has become another challenge in waste managementduring COVID-19. Giving a practical demonstrationduring webinar to participants on how to wash hands she said it is everybody’s responsibility to keep one’s environment clean.
Another speaker, Shri Satyendra Yadav, Assistant Project Officer, Municipal Corporation, Hisar said that children were educated about the Covid-appropriate behaviourin close coordination with the district education department. He said it is important to reduce virus load as its increase will lead to virus mutation. In this fight against pandemic, Covid-appropriate behaviour has become an important parameter, he added.
In her welcome address, Smt. Sangeeta Joshi, Assistant Director, Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Chandigarh informed the participants that Swachh Bharat Mission was launched on 2nd October 2014 to make India clean by eradicating open defecation, improving solid waste management and spreading awareness regarding the importance of cleanliness. This has gained another dimension as India fights war against the COVID-19, she added.
Ms. Sapna, Assistant Director, ROB, Chandigarh moderated the webinar. The session concluded with Shri Daulat Ram, Field Publicity Assistant (FPA), Field Outreach Bureau (FOB), Hisar presenting a vote of thanks to all the participants and guest speakers.
