Webinar on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” organised today

A webinar on “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” was organised today by Field Outreach Bureau, (FOB), Shimla. Mr. Mohit Sood, who is associated with Shimla-based Himalayan Adventure Sports and Tourism Association during the webinar briefedhow his organization made children aware of environment and cleanliness by going to villages. He said that theirinitiative “Mission Smile” is to save the Himalayas and bring its beauty to the world. In order to make this campaign a success, in 12 years, he has so far visited nearly a thousand villages and connected the heads and children with this campaign.

Mahesh Tiwari, a young environmentalist and teacher of Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar, shared his experiences on the subject of cleanliness and environmental protection in the webinar. He said that his Prakriti Kalyan Sangathan is working selflessly to make the city of Sagar clean. For this, he makes the children aware and periodically runs a cleanliness drive in the city in collaboration with the administration. He said they make people aware of cleanliness and environment through street plays, slogans and cycle rallies. They also used catchy slogans like dukaan ek dustbin do, kushi ho ya gum paudhey lagaye hum, jindagi adhuri tere bin dustbin etc, he added.

Welcoming the participants in the webinar, Mr. Himanshu Pathak, Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau, Shimla said that from October 2, 2014 till now, the country has many achievements to its credit under the Swachh Bharat Mission. He informed that today the Swachh Bharat Mission has become a mass movement with participation from each and every section of society.

Associate Professor, Government Girls College, Shimla, Mrs. Captain Lakshmi also gave details of the work done under theSwachhta mission in her college.Shri Anil Dutt Sharma, Field Exhibition Officer, FOB,Shimla moderated the webinar. The session concluded with Ms. Sapna, Assistant Director, Regional Outreach Bureau, Chandigarh presenting a vote of thanks to all the participants and guest speakers.
