Chandigarh, May 18 – While keeping strict vigil over the drug mafia alongwith the COVID-19 duties, Haryana Police today seized 145 kg doda post hidden in a canter load of watermelons, in Sirsa district. Five persons are also arrested in this connection.
Giving this information today, a Haryana Police spokesperson said that the police team during patrolling got a tip-off that a canter piloted by a car is carrying a huge consignment of doda post concealed under watermelons.
On receiving this information, the team put up barricades and signaled a Ritz car to stop for checking. Soon after a canter driver coming from Fatehabad side also signaled to stop for checking. On seeing the police, the driver started trying to escape by taking a U-turn but was nabbed. Based on suspicion, police searched the canter and found 145 kg doda post concealed under watermelons.
Initial probe revealed that seized contraband was brought from Uttar Pradesh for supply in Sirsa district.
Arrested accused were identified as Rajbir, a resident of Sardulgarh Punjab, Sewak of Sardulgarh Punjab, Gurmukh Singh alias Gokha of Titukhera, Ravi Singh of Ottu and Lakha Singh of Sardulgarh in Punjab.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act has been registered and further probe was underway.
