Chandigarh, April 27 – Haryana Police has seized 531 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (6372 bottles) in Nuh district when the consignment was being smuggled in a truck from Sonipat to Uttar Pradesh. Two accused are also arrested in this connection.
Giving this information here today, Haryana Police spokesperson informed that a police team received a tip-off that liquor smugglers were transporting a big consignment of liquor from Sonipat to Uttar Pradesh in a truck. After getting the information, police team established a naka on Nuh-Taoru road near village Bawla. When the team signalled a truck bearing UP registration number to stop, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape. Police team chased the vehicle and intercepted it and arrested both the driver and co-driver.
Search of the truck led to recovery of 6372 bottles of Imperial Blue in 531 cartons.
Arrested accused were identified as Shokeen Khan and Haider Ali, both residents of Nuh district.
A case under relevant sections of Excise Act was registered against the accused and further investigation into this case has been taken up.
