Chandigarh.12th April,2021:The Health and Wellness Centres are envisaged to deliver an expanded range of Primary Healthcare Services with focus on basic primary healthcare needs of the entire population in their respective areas thus expanding access, universality and equity in Service delivery.
The effective delivery of Universal Comprehensive Primary Health care through Health and Wellness Centres has further assisted in decongesting Secondary Care health facilities and in turn reduction of Health Care costs.
The concept of Health and Wellness Centres has acted as a game changer by bringing package of twelve comprehensive health care services closer to the Communities .
Chandigarh Health Department has made 33 Health and Wellness Centres operational in various Sectors and Colonies to cater to felt need of all beneficiaries.
Today, On 12th April 2021, 34th Health and Wellness Centre at EWS Colony Maloya has been inaugurated by His Excellency Shri V. P.Singh Badnore , Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT, Chandigarh. HWC – Maloya will cater to approx. 26 thousand vulnerable and economically weaker population.
The inauguration done in the virtual mode was also attended by Mr Manoj Parida , Advisor to the Administrator , Mr Arun Gupta , Principal Secretary Health, Dr Amandeep Kang DHS , Mr Ojha the Chief Engineer and the local Councillor Mr Rajesh Kalia .
Health Department has provided assistance of Two Medical Officers (One Allopathic and One AYUSH).
Package of Comprehensive expanded range of health care services ie. Maternal and Child Care, Eye, ENT, Geriatric Care , Dental, Emergency, Mental, Adolescent, Family Planning Services, management of Communicable and Non- Communicable diseases.
HWC- Maloya will be providing OPD services to approx. 100-150 patients on daily basis. Dental Chair has been installed at HWC Maloya. Essential drugs will also be provided free of cost.Two medical officers,one pharmacist, laboratory technician,
Three ANMs have been deputed at the Center to provide MCH Services including Routine Immunisation, home visits and to conduct health survey of the area for communicable and non- communicable diseases. Facility of COVID Vaccination has already been started there.
Laboratory facilities to provide basic investigations including Haemoglobin estimation, RFT, LFT etc. has been initiated.
Ownership of HWCs by Community has also been planned by formation of ‘Jan Aarogya Samitis”.
Chandigarh has achieved 311percent target of setting up of Health and Wellness Centres. And Chandigarh has been ranked 2nd in India amongst all UTs. With this, we hereby look forward to celebrate 3rd Anniversary of Health and Wellness Center Day on 14th April, 2021 on the occasion of “Ambedkar Jayanti”.
The day will mark the beginning of “Ayushman Pakhwada”, in which population enumeration of above 30 yrs. will also be undertaken.
