World NCD Federation to organize an online Public Forum to promote multi-sectoral collaboration towards Global Health and Wellness Initiative- Play, Laugh and Grow
(Indian version: Khelo, Hasso aur Hasao, Badho aur Badhao, India)
World NCD Federation, an International Professional Association of members from various medical specialities has been working towards development of strategies towards prevention and control of NCDs. The initiative started in 2015 with the association commencing a capacity building program “Public Health Approaches to NCDs”, which has entered its sixth year now. Now, as is the need of the hour, to engage and keep motivating the public as a whole, the federation recently launched its Global Health and Wellness Initiative- Play, Laugh and Grow.
Moving forward, the federation will host an online public forum on its Global Health and Wellness Initiative with the theme “PLAY, LAUGH, GROW” (Indian version: Khelo, Hasso aur Hasao, Badho aur Badhao, India)
“There are multiple programs and campaigns launched every now and then, however, engagement of public mostly remains the most neglected part. However, to change the health statistics at population level, individuals at ground level must also be engaged. This is why we planned the public forum to express our interest to include general public in our multidimensional initiative”, said Dr. JS Thakur, Professor of Community Medicine, PGIMER Chandigarh, who is also the president of World NCD Federation. He further added that the campaign components of Play, Laugh and Grow intend to target physical activity, healthy eating practices and alternatives, stress-free life to promote multisecrtoral collaboratin via “Whole of Society and Whole of the Government” approach.
The public forum will be conducted via an online platform “Zoom”. For the public interest, the link to join the session will be shared on social media pages of World NCD Federation to invite public to participate in the session.
The session panellists will include medical professionals from PGIMER, Media Coordinators, Diet and Yoga Experts.
