Chandigarh 14 February – President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said that a mass movement like the ‘Kisan Aandolan’ takes place once in a while in the history. The independence movement was one such mass movement. Thereafter, the world did not see any such movement. Today, a mass movement is being carried out by the farmers and laborers in a very peaceful manner.

Kumari Selja was addressing a Kisan Sammelan organized by the Congress Party in Kalanwali, Sirsa. The conference was organized by Congress MLA Shishpal Keharwala from Kalanwali. During the Kisan Sammelan, two-minute silence was observed to pay tributes to the soldiers, who were martyred in the Pulwama attack, and the farmers, who martyred in the farmers’ movement.

Kumari Selja said that the farmers’ movement has been going on for the last quarter to three months. More than 200 farmers have lost their lives. It is very sad to see that till today the Prime Minister has not uttered a word expressing sympathy for the departed souls, but he used sarcastic words for the agitating farmers. It is our farmers, who feed the nation by working hard day and night. The Prime Minister repeatedly disappointed the nation. It is very disappointing, but use of such words was never expected from him. BJP is such a party, whatever it says at top level, it reaches the ground level. What the Agriculture Minister of Haryana said yesterday about the departed souls was very sad. They act as the contractor of the culture and civilization of the country. Do their morals teach this? Everyone is sad about those who die. If we cannot express sympathy, at least do not say anything wrong about them, she added.

Kumari Selja said that the government does not want the farmers to make profits, but it only thinks about the profits of its capitalist friends. The Agriculture Minister says what is black in these laws, but everything in these laws is against the farmers. With anti-agriculture black laws, this government wants to hand over the agricultural sector to the hands of its capitalist friends. These laws will completely ruin the agricultural sector. Through these laws, this government wants to end the mandis. The government says that it will not end the mandis, but the mandis will automatically end with these laws. Government mandis will be taxed and others will not be taxed. This is a planned conspiracy of this government to end the mandis. The farmers will not get the Minimum Support Price. If the big capitalists come, the farmers, laborers, small traders and the agents will vanish. The way farmers in Bihar have become laborers after enactment of such law in the year 2006, similarly, this government wants to make the farmers of Haryana laborers. The Congress government enacted a law to stop hoarding. Now, this government has introduced a law to promote hoarding. This government should give up its stubbornness and listen to the farmers and laborers, added Kumari Selja.

She said that the government at the Center and Haryana talk big. The BJP had made several promises to double farmers’ income and implement Swaminathan Commission Report, but all their claims turned out to be hollow. Today, inflation is increasing constantly. Petrol and diesel prices are shooting up daily. Facts show that since this government has come, it has benefited only two or four persons. Whoever highlighted the truth of this government, their voice is suppressed, she added.

Kumari Selja said that the BJP says that the Congress party is tricking the farmers, but the farmer of the country knows about their profit and loss. The farmers of Haryana and Punjab brought the Green Revolution. The country was made self-sufficient by the farmers and laborers long ago. Earlier the country had to get food from abroad, but today, due to the tireless effor…
