Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT from Punjab Raj Bhawan. Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Principal, GMCH & Director Health Services, GMSH-16 attended through Video Conferencing.
WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS
1. Dr. Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER stated that they have 63 covid patients in Nehru Hospital Extension, out of which 20 belong to Chandigarh, 26 to Punjab, 08 to Haryana, 05 to Himachal Pradesh and remaining to other states. He also mentioned that there is no adverse effect of the trial of both the doses for Covishield vaccination conducted successfully on 149 volunteers.
Director Principal, GMCH 32, Dr. Jasbinder Kaur stated that OPDs of ENT, Neonatology, Pain Clinic and Pre-Anesthetic Check-ups (PAC) have been started today and, hence, all OPDs have been made functional.
Dr. Amandeep Kang, DHS, GMSH-16 stated that a total of 12,223 covid samples have been tested in the last 12 days, out of which 617 have been found positive with 5% positivity rate. It was also highlighted that the positivity rate, which was found to be 5.3% in the week between 22nd to 28th December, 2020 has come down to 4.4% in the next week from 29/12/2020 to 03/01/2021, indicating positive trend. No Dengue case has been detected yesterday and total 265 dengue cases have been detected till date, as against 286 in the corresponding period of last year. She also stated that Dry Run of vaccination has successfully been conducted at three sites in GMSH-16, Civil Hospital, Manimajra and Sector 22 Hospital to check end-to-end testing of CoWin portal. A webinar has also been held on 29/12/2020 by Health Department to sensitize private healthcare providers about the vaccination protocol. A total of 8,830 healthcare workers including private healthcare providers have been registered in Chandigarh, which are to be administered vaccination in the first phase. One walk-in-refrigerator has been sanctioned by Government of India for Union Territory, Chandigarh to augment the vaccination effort. Post-Covid Care Clinics are successfully operating in GMCH-32 and GMSH-16 and about 20 such patients are being monitored daily. It was also stated that all 34 samples of UK returned travelers have been found to be negative.
2. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 979 active cases with positivity rate of almost 6% in the recent past. Similarly, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 181 active cases with about 5.4% positivity rate and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 281 active cases.
3. Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that he has monitored Dry Run exercise thoroughly and the exercise went on smoothly. He also apprised the Administrator that the staggering of healthcare workers for vaccination needs to be done to ensure better coordinated effort and Government of India has already been requested to make requisite amendment in the portal.
4. Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation also apprised the Administrator that the data of almost 10,500 frontline workers of Municipal Corporation has also been compiled and ready for uploading for vaccination in the second phase. Similarly, data for other frontline workers like Police, Civil Defence, Revenue and Disaster Management is also being compiled.
5. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh complimented the Civil Administration specially Police for excellent work done on the New Year Eve for controlling the congregation of people without imposition of additional restrictions like night curfew etc. He was glad to note that there was no untoward incident reported, which marred the occasion.

6. The Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT appealed to all the recovered covid patients to avail the facility of Post-Covid Care Clinic, so that any unexpected health issue can be addressed timely by professionals.
