Chandigarhsunita shastri: North India is most favourite among all brands and designWith India holding a position of being a diverse, prosperous market with a promising future as the organised Indian apparel sector is projected to touch USD 85 billion mark by the end of 2021, a Webinar titled – Retail Apparel Industry: A Domestic Analysis was organised by Dr. Prabhdip Brar on 21st December, 2020, for faculty, research scholars and final year students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Fashion and Lifestyle Technology.The speaker Mr. Navendu Kumar, DGM Design, Menswear Casuals at Max India, a Landmark Groupshared the knowhow of the Indian apparel retail. He explained how with a clear vision, a brand can make it big in the retail sector. More than 50% of the retail sector in India is still unorganised, and Tier-II and Tier-III cities have a promising future of adding to the current revenues. Bharat has started becoming India leading to economic expansion.From the designer’s point of view, it was explained how North India is most favourite among all brands and designers as fashion, colour and expensive clothes work there. Brands produce sweaters for males in all bright pastel shades to match with the pagris of Punjabis. Also, Bollywood drives the fashion in the west, East India is closer to their roots in terms of designs and again South India focuses on basics mixed with fashion and vibrant colours. In terms of retail, product specification, customer experience, consumer insight and pipeline integrity are the way forward for retailers to encash opportunities.
